Heart attack or Myocardial Infarction is a sudden onset of damage to the heart. The blood flow is blocked to a part of the heart and the tissue in that area dies. Heart failure usually refers to Congestive Heart Failure. In this condition the cardiac output is decreased and the body retains fluid. Over time the fluid backs up to the lungs etc... Then the heart fails because of the pressure this fluid puts on the heart. Lasix is a drug that makes you urinate to get rid of the excess fluid therefore reducing the fluid around the heart and lungs.
