You need a visa to work for any length of time in NZ if you are being paid. As a British citizen, you can apply for a Working Holiday Visa, which entitles you to stay in NZ for up to 2 yrs and work for as much of that time as you want. You do NOT need to have a job in advance!

You need to apply to New Zealand House in London - you can either go in person or do it by post (which obviously takes longer). See www.immigration.govt.nz for more info.

If you are planning to work, then yes, you will need a visa. To visit as a tourist, you will not require a visa for 6 months.

As others have said, working holiday visa is probably the best option. Otherwise, if you are a student, you can go through a student exchange program (BUNAC or similar)

The NZ high commission in London has all the details - and quite a neat bar if you know the right people!

Not too sure if the same applies here but when I worked in germany for a period I did not need a visa unless I was going to remain in the country for more than 3 months. I got round this by returning to England every three months for a weekend or a few days and then flying back to germany. I think it is the same anywhere ( except in Russia where a visa is required at all times ).

Pretty much every country requires you to have a work visa if you wish to work in that country but are not a resident or citizen including New Zeland. The only major exceptions being the EU countries but even then you have to prove you are an EU citizen. Speak to the New Zealand High Commission in London. If you are young enough, you will qualify for a working holiday visa.

If you will be working you will definitely need a visa. If you are under 30 and a British Passport holder you can apply for a Working Holiday Visa.

Your only other options are the work permit and skilled migrant visas.

If you will just be holidaying as a tourist you do not need a visa.

Yes you do. You need to get a job offer first to get a visa.

I was over there for about 1yr trying to find work without luck and came back much poorer than when I went.

I have a friend over there (not heard from him in ages), who is an immigration consultant who may be able to help get you a visa for a charge.

We are considering relocating to NZ and will be going to an Expo in Manchester in October...there will also be one in London.
Here is the link to it...

http://www.expo-newzealand.com

Have a look at the immigration link as that will tell you all you need to know about eligibility and visas...

Good Luck..

I understand that if you are a hobbit or wizard then there is no need for a viza.
