Complainers are babies wanting someone else to solve a problem that they have no constructive solution for. As in business, a complaint should be accompanied by a positive statement about a solution that takes into account the factors that reasonably led to the current situation and a new perspective that can assist building a solution from there.
It is much easier to attack and bad mouth. There is no thought required just knee jerk antipathy.

Complainers have settled on a poor social skill to initiate conversation, and hopefully find a solution to their problem(s).
I think some people are just born that way. About the same percentage of people are chronic complainers as were colicky babies. I would like to do a survey and find out if they are the same people. Or put together some satisfied with life/dissatisfied with life kind of scale. Psychologists say this is from birth, but surely there has to be some environmental factors there as well.

All complainers are not without answers. A complaint can be made about something and a remedy offered by the complainer to solve the problem. Whether the remedy is accepted by the recipient of the complaint is a totally different matter. To complain does not indicate you have no reason or justification for the complaint. Whenever I complain - and I do complain about my cell phone service, the price of gas, high rent, etc - I try to offer a solution. Sometimes my solution is accepted while other times it is not. B/c I complain does not mean I'm whining nor does it mean I have no answer or a possible solution to offer regarding the thing I'm complaining about.

In the Military, normally we look at lower ranking individuals as complainers. The problem, even as in civilian life, we only have a piece of the pie of infomation. It's easy to complain about what their doing and not be able to have a solution because they do not have all the facts. The famous saying, "Don't worry about the mule going blind, just load the wagon."

Finaldx had a great answer. My opinion is that during their childhood they were the whiners and every time they whined, they got picked up, got their way, or got whatever it was they were whining about. They never learned how to figure it out or work the problem for themselves. It worked as a child and became habit. So why not use this method in Adulthood?
