What can I do or put on it.

I tried to heat paper clip (did several times..left a big hole that was darker than rest of nail, but no blood came out.

I then steralized a needle and pushed it in. quite of bit of blood rushed out., but the nail is just as purple, still hurts

1..My question is do you think the blood already dried under the nail and can't get out now as 6 hours past and was the blood the trapped under the oldl blood or new blood from poking into the flesh.

I did still get more blood than I would expect from puncturing the skin (under the nail), but it did not spurt up several inches like a book said it might but it did kind of rush out fast,

2. What should I do..try it again later or will tomorrow be too late to get trapped blood out as it will dry??

3Should the nail still be purple if the blood got out or shouldn't it stop hurting.
4.Also are there any alternative things I should put on it & how long till the nail grows out. Any help would be appreciated

Update..it is starting to trob with a heart beat

to pearl, I poked the hole in it after researching what to do online..it said that's what er usually does.

It was not easy to do..I was so scared (as I never did this before), bit got really nauseated and had to lie down.

How can I prevent infection now that I have this hole in my nail?

You should not poke the skin under the nail-just the nail to release the pressure from the blood trapped between the nail and the skin below. It will take several months to grow back-iwould wait a little and ten poke it again and maybe soak in a little sea salt water or peroxide. Don't be surprised if it falls off all the way.

I smashed my thumb in a car door. When it turns purple like that, you probably broke the bone inside. The only reason that you'd want the blood out is because of the pressure in your thumb. If you want, use a small drill and drill bit to go through the thumb nail. This should relieve some pressure. Just make sure that the area is totally clean and after you do this, clean it well, maybe use alcohol. I know, it will hurt, but you won't get infections like that. But if it's been a while, just let it go. No big thing.

The thumb nail will eventually fall off, or at least partially. For the thumb nail to form correctly after it comes off, make sure that the nail is COMPLETELY off. If it stays partially on, it will really look like crap when it grows in and might cause problems. Mine came off but was still alive and attached in one corner. I just gritted my teeth and pulled it off with pliers. Damn, it hurt. But I cleaned it and it grew in in about 6 months. Looks fine now. I wish you luck.

My friend smashed her toe when she slammed the door and all of her nail turned purple. You will just have to deal with it,try putting ice on it every day. Dont wiggle the nail,it might get infected.
Dont wiggle it unless you think its getting loose.
my friends nail popped off eventually, which was explaining it for beign purple... just bruised.

If the nail falls off it will do so on its own. Then it will grow back. If it doesnt fall off then its just bruised and the black mark will go away eventually.

I would leave it. Eventually the blood will dry if it hasn't already. If you try to poke it etc, it could cause infection. Sorry about that, I know how painful it is.
