If you are British citizen, you do not have to give national service on military. Only Turkish citizens have it to be done as a duty. It does not matter if you are father is from Cyprus or even Turkey. If you are not Turkish citizen, the answer is NO. I have friends who were born as Turkish citizen from Turkish mom and dad in Turkey but changed the nationality afterwards. Even they do not give the military service.

It depends which side of Cyprus he is from....
TRNC...not sure though I doubt it if you were not born there and have a British passport.
