Ug the caveman learned to count on this fingers before the dawn of history. There are Babylonian documents from 2000 BC indicating reasonably sophisticated math concepts. They has a number system based on 60, which we still use for minutes and seconds.

I always told my math students that the first person who held things in each hand and realized he had two, invented math. No one person sat down and invented math. It was developed as people planned how much food to store for the winter or how much material they needed to build a shelter. My brother is a craftsman. Didn't even take Geometry in high school. Yet one day I saw him use a ruler to make a 3-4-5 right triangle as a way to make sure a corner on his housing lot was square. The Egyptians used this method to survey land. It was something my brother learned from some other craftsman. Things like this have been passed down for centuries. Why is it called the Pythagorean Theorem? Pythagoras wrote it in a book.
However, some types of math were developed by different individuals. Most Geometry we study is called Euclidean after a Greek(?) guy named Euclid. I guess he really hated teenagers and wanted to torment them long after he died.
Isaak Newton developed a lot of what is now known as Calculus. Hated college kids.
But, these were still developed because they were trying to solve problems. The problems just got more complicated than storing food for the winter. Hope this helps.
