There is a company called RGIS that does inventory service for large stores like Home Depot and CVS. You travel a lot. They will have a number of crew cheifs supervising the inventory takers. It is done by hand held scanners. A Home Depot store will use as many as 60 inventory takers and take 3 days to complete. If you are every in a large chain store and notice small florescent paper tags on the shelves, they are in the process of taking inventory. RGIS pays the inventory trackers by the hour. You work when the store is closed. Expect to work late at night into the morning. I have used RGIS to inventory my store. They are very efficient. I knew a person who worked for them for 10 years. She enjoyed the work. It is not for everyone. You will find their ads in the employment section of most newspapers.
