So last night I was going to go out with some friends, when we got to the bar, I all of the sudden couldn't move, I felt as though I couldn't breathe, my heart was racing, and all I wanted to do was leave. Was this a panic attack?

Sounds like a typical panic attack to me. You didn't give an age so it would be wise if your a smoker or over 40 to get checked by you Doctor, if as you say your already being treated for depression the medication your on could also have an effect you should always let your Dr. know about any changes your feeling while depressed. If it happens again you'll want answers from your Dr. on how to avoid/treat them. Good thing to do is when you feel one come on breath slowly and deeply, if your'e with a close friend let them know before hand that this could happen they can help you to a quiet spot so you can get through this quicker. The old breath in a paper bag trick looks funny, but does help.

Sound like a panic attack to me, something in the bar trigger it, something in your past may have happen, and when you walk into the bar, one of your 5 senses pick up sometime, and trigger a forgotten memory, resulting in panic attack. if you can recall everything in the bar, such as what you seen, smell, touch, taste, hear, that could of cause this panic attack to over come you.

That does sound like a panic attack -- yes.
But it sounds so much like the book version of the symptoms that I wonder if you're thinking about things too much and causing the attack that way.

I could be something else, but from the sounds of it , I'd say it was a panic attack.

Yes, and you need to return to your Dr. have him or her check your meds you probably need them adjusted. Be aware; that you need to tell the Dr. all of the medications that you are on even over the counter meds. These attacks are sometimes very hard to overcome. Good Luck!

Sounds like it to me and being around people sometimes triggers it as well. Go see your dr and he can maybe give you some medication to control this.

Definately, get a small brown paper bag and breath into it, go to the rest room, carry one in your pocket, they will happen again!

It sounds like it. I get them sometimes myself. It fells as if the walls are closing in on my and I 'm gonna die. Not a good feeling. If they continue you need to see a doctor.
