enlisted careers are only slightly different.. in that you do not need a college education., only a high school diploma But yes, you still incur a commitment.. a grand total of EIGHT years.

if you go straight into the Reserves, than you do not have to do any Active Duty time, although you still have to commit to 8 years of service.

All of this is moot.. you are too young to take the ASVAB at this time, and you must take that test in order to determine exactly what jobs you are qualified for. You may not even qualify(or there may not be a need) for the job you are currently interested in.

My advice: Stay in school, take as much Math and Science as you can, including Honors or AP courses. Join a club or two and get experience as a leader. maybe even take up a sport(doesn't have to be a High school team sport, even a local yputh team is fine). Keep your grades as high as they can be. do NOT smoke, do drugs, drink underage or doing something stupid and get pregnant. if you are still interested in the Academy by the time you are a sophomore in HS, then apply in your Junior Year. wait any longer and you miss the cut off. If you don't get accepted(and many do NOT, depsite having great grades and other stuff) then you can decide to either go the ROTC route, college or enlist after High school. if you decide to enlist, than start the process as a senior with a recruiter.

You would have to go through a basic training period regardless of officer or enlisted status. This is the same regardless of military service, there is no way to avoid it unless you are commissioned under a special program like for doctors, dentists, lawyers and ministers. These still get trained but not to the same degree as a regular officer or enlisted.

Also, it doesn't matter how flashy and glamorous the job seems, if it is your choice, pick officer over enlisted. Better pay, better priviledges, less menial jobs.

If you want to be an officer you're going to need to have a college degree. Officers make more money and have better benefits than enlisted personnel.
