Indigo Children is a term that was coined in the 80s or 90s. It originally referred to kids who were real prodigies----master musicians, wonderful poets, historical gurus, and more stuff like that. It has since evolved to mean just about any kid who is into spiritual stuff; and like the first poster said, it all-too-commonly gets slapped onto kids who are attention-deficit.
