He probably understands more than you think, he just chooses to only listen to what he wants.

He may hear the car keys jingle but the reason that most dog love a car ride is because they can stick their head out of the window with their mouth open and their tongue hanging out to cool down. Dogs don't have sweat glands and that's why they pant when they are hot.

I believe dog's have a sense that human's don't posess. Body language and what you do before you get ready to get in the vehicle also has a lot to do with it. My dog's know I won't take them unless it's getting to be winter and it's cool enough for them and then they also know they have to take turn's. They also know how cool it has to be and won't even ask if I feel it's too warm. They don't like that much but they accept it because I made my choice for the day and don't change my mind.Dog's are just incrediable being's. Good luck to you and listen to your dog, he know's thing's you don't.

I put on my shoes and mine are ready! If one dog sees me reach for them he'll go get the other dog so both are bouncing around like they have springs in their tails.
Go and Bye-Bye are 2 words in this house not said unless you mean it.
Amazingly enough tho I can tell my dogs that I'm going bye-bye and they can't go.They have to stay home and watch the house and I'll bring them something back and they both lay down very calmly to wait.

I know I have 4 dogs all of them eceot 1 love the car. if you say ''lets go bye bye'' they are at the door wanting to go to the car. Unfortunetly I have a dog that HATES the car she shakes if you even hold her good and comforting in it. (vet visits are torture)

That's the way they are. My parents have a beagle that knows that 'Go' and 'Ride' mean they're going out in the car- and he loves to go riding!

That little rascal has even learned to recognize the spelling 'G O'!
