At the age of 16, I delivered a baby in my home and he passed away. I pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and completed 2.5 years of probation. I live in NC, and I have a hard time finding work. I am 34 years young today. I have talked to some lawyers and they give me differnt answers. Please help.

You should be able to have it sealed and it removed from your record.

Yes you can... but it will cost a LOT of money. It's called Exspunged now even if you do have it exspunged if whoever looks hard enough will still see that you have had one. if someone runs a check on you it will come back "exspunged" it won't tell them exactly what it is but it say that you have had one...
Also, if you are able to move out of state, then you won't have ANY problems finding work... because most states only run a check in their state only... I did it and I am making close to $20 an hour now... best move I ever made.. and I have 2 felonies... Well as a fellow felon I wish you the best of luck...

That conviction should be sealed since you were a minor and should not be public record. Perhaps the town you're in knows the background from when it occurrred and it's part of the grapevine and people won't hire you from word-of-mouth knowledge. They couldn't have found out from the courts

You should be able to wipe your record clean. Find a lawyer who's done this before.
