few days ago while distancing himself from the comment (I don't think he should have even made reference to it to begin with). If actions speak louder than words, did Muslims prove the emporer correct by killing a nun in Bosnia and burning churches in Gaza?
Even after apologizing for the reference, Muslims are saying it's not enough. What else can the Pope do to make it up to them?

Those words were not the Pope's. He quoted from an emperor several centuries ago and only to illustrate that jihad or any other religious war is wrong. Muslims chose to take umbrage, as usual, and burned effigies of the Pope. They have since killed a nun and called for the Pope to be killed. I don't think the Pope should have apologised as he did nothing wrong. Have Muslim leaders apologised for the events of 11th September 2001 in New York or for any of the other terrorist attacks around the world? Have they apologised for the beheading of innocent hostages in Iraq? Of course not!

He can't make it up to them. People expect more of a pope, and his speech was saturated with ignorance and lack of foresight. Islam preaches peace. It will be hard for the pope to issue a fully accepted apology simply because the best way to solve a problem is to prevent it from happening in the first place. He may even have meant something completely different but failed to choose his words wisely.

Muslims proved no one right about anything that was said about them. Muslims answer to no one but Allah. They're on a mission to prove themselves Good for the afterlife, they don't have time to prove and disprove people's opinions and misconceptions about them.

You are simply stereotyping an entire religion through the actions of a few extremists. It was not Muslims who killed a Nun in Bosnia or Burned churches. It was a bunch of crazy, confused extremists who just happen to be Muslim and use it to justify their actions. It wasn't Muslims who were responsible for 9/11 either. It was just terrorists and extremists.

What was the need to make such stupid question.
Muslims ruled India for 900 year and if they have spread Islam with the help of sword in such a long time they should have converted the whole of the population of India to Islam.

At present the Muslims are a minority in India.

I'd have to read the whole speech to understand why the Pope made that reference. I can't believe he would repeat it unless he was trying to make a point about religious tolerance.

you cannot kill someone and say sorry for that you need to be punished for what you did and pope is no exception ,but what has happened is wrong ,its not innocent people getting punished if the people of islam wanna d o something they can punish the culprit and not innocent ,but killing any one is not fair even if it is the culprit , they can send him for a social work(community service,I advise pracitce before preach something good) in africa for a years time so that he speaks for the needy and poor n thinks of them instead of hate comments on other religions.
it was hinduism 3 months ago now islam and what next.

It is impossible to make up to Muslims because they lack common sense and logic. Being a backward sect, all they can think of is slaughter of the non muslims.
Economic instability, global warming, AIDS, over-population, unemployment are issues that do not matter to mullahs, all they can go blah-blah about is Islam. How can you make up to such looney bins?
Hey eitemad_e, looks like you do not know the history of India. Today India is not a muslim state, thanks to the Sikh religion.

U have yr facts wrong.

Pope has not apologised for his comments - only expressed his sorrow for the reactions to his comments.

He should get up and say "I am sorry. I was wrong". Its so simple.
