I have a cold but I am starving to death! I don't want to eat heavy foods. I want something for my body to easily digest. I am tired of chicken noodle soup!

Egg is easy to digest and it won't put too much presure on your stomach. When I'm sick, I usually have oatmeal or fish ball noodle with soup. And drink some ginger tea to keep myself warm after the meal. Here are the simple recipes, hope you'll like it.

<<<<<< Egg drops Oatmeal >>>>>>

1) Heat water (3 cups) in the pot over medium heat, add 1/2 cup oatmeal into the pot, stir occassionally, cook for 20 minutes. Beat 1 egg while the oatmeal is boiling.
2) Pour 100 cc milk into the pot, stir and bring to boil, then add the egg mixture, stir quickly to make egg drops (around 20 seconds), turn off the heat.
3) Add honey and sugar if you like it sweet or you may add some finely chopped chives and add salt and pepper as another option.

Hot ginger tea is good for healing your headache and coughing.

<<<<<< Ginger & peppermint Tea >>>>>>

30g raw ginger (as big as your thumb), peel the skin and crushed
2 cup of water
1 peppermint tea bag
1 tablespoon of honey

1) Heat water in a sauce pan over medium heat, add ginger and boil for 5 minutes, (you can smell the fragrance), then add the peppermint tea bag into the pot, cover up for 10 seconds.
2) Pour the ginger & pepper Tea into a big cup, add honey, serve immediately.

Get well soon!

Eat whatever you feel ready to eat. Stay away from any processed foods, and drink lots of water. Orange juice is what I crave when I'm sick.

Try eating some gumbo, it has a lot of meat like chicken, turkey, sausage, or seafood. It is hot, and you can add some hot sauce to really open you up. Gumbo tastes really good and you can make it yourself or buy it from the store in the canned good isle. You may also want to try some chili, it is meaty and can be spicy if you want it to be. Or a home made soup with green beans, beef, corn, and whatever you may want to add.But gumbo is better to me because it is more like a soup that is more fulfilling.

How do you make your chicken soup?

Try this. Boil some pastina (small pasta) in very lightly salted water, when cooked add a teaspoon or two of Knorr chicken soup powder until it is salty and tasty enough for your liking.

In a small bowl, scramble an egg or two, add parmesan cheese to it, mix, and pour it into the pot of soup. Take it off the stove and stir it till the egg is all cooked and scrambled. Add a few drops of olive oil or even sesame seed oil to the soup and enjoy.

Healthy and nutritious and you won't get sick of it for a while believe me!

This is my own conconction...my grandma used to make it for me and I just modified it a bit more to perfect it! :~)

Drink plenty of fluids - liquids help thin mucous secretions. Try water, decaffeinated tea, fruit juice or broth-based soups. Slowly enjoying a steaming bowl of homemade chicken soup is an old remedy that may provide some relief.
Avoid dairy products such as milk, ice cream and pudding because they tend to increase phlegm. Any other foods are okay to eat as long as you can tolerate them.
Keep in mind your sense of taste may be distorted as a result of your nasal passages being plugged. Your favorite foods may not taste the same.
Make sure you get plenty of rest. If you have trouble getting to sleep, try drinking decaffeinated tea, herbal tea or decaffeinated carbonated beverages. If you are experiencing vomiting, a fever or diarrhea:
If you are vomiting, don't eat or drink for approximately one hour after an episode, then drink two ounces of water or a flat lemon-lime carbonated beverage such as Sprite or 7-Up. If you tolerate that, repeat every 15-30 minutes.
When vomiting has subsided for a few hours, try drinking more liquids in order to replace the loss of fluid from your body. Water, decaffeinated tea, fruit juice or broth-based soups are generally good choices.
Gradually add other relatively bland foods such as plain or lightly buttered toast.
If you are running a fever, but are not vomiting, drink plenty of liquids.
If you are experiencing diarrhea, try a banana, apple juice, applesauce, rice or rice cereal without milk. These foods help regulate your system and may help relieve your symptoms.
As your symptoms subside, slowly increase your food intake. Your appetite should return to normal as you get better. When you or those around you are sick:
Wash your hands regularly with warm, soapy water and dry with a disposable towel to prevent picking up or spreading the bacteria and viruses that cause illness.
Wash all eating and drinking utensils in the dishwasher or in hot, soapy water and allow to air dry. Wash glasses and silverware after every use to limit contamination. If you're too sick to wash dishes, consider using paper plates, cups, and disposable utensils.
If your symptoms worsen or persist for longer than a few days, contact your doctor.

My favorite is hot and sour soup. If you have a cold or sinus infection, that'll clear your sinuses really fast!
