absolutely not, There is no magic number that they have to write, but they do have to maintain a level of activity and on some departments their performance reviews are based on that activity, so if they slack they have to make it up at the end of the month so that is why they look like they write more tickets than at any other time. They do have to answer to why they do or do not have a certain amount of activity, so that their superiors do not think that they are just sitting around in their cars doing nothing.

Police are conscious of statistics regarding how well they are performing their duties. Their effectiveness is always under scrutiny. If during the course of the month the statistics look good, no problem. If it has been a "light" month, it is not unreasonable for police to set up stings, checkpoints, etc., in order to create more arrests or tickets to improve their averages. it has little to do with revenue into the community.

That's a myth my husband is a cop. There is other things the police need to do than to sit in one spot and write tickets.

That is a hypothetical question. In reality, I don't think the system works in that way! If it does exist, as you say, then it could be construed as a corrupt activity on the part of the Police Department/Government!

They do not have a quota in writing tickets. Otherwise police will be sitting duck to crime.
