WOW..... You are really scared of some of these aholes giving you sheat.
Look... There are aholes out there. That's just a fact of life. Don't let it get to you so much. Just blow them off and go on about your life. It is soooo not worth it to let them run your life.
That being said......
You are one awesome kid I must say.
You have a desire and you are going to make it happen. All your concerns are really nothing. Trust me. A life in the military is a fulfilling and rewarding experience.... You can have a family. A lot of us do. You will be able to do things that you would never been able to do without the military.
Don't listen to all the liberals that are trying to bash our country and our military. You have less of a chance of being killed in the military then you do in normal society. If fact the Gulf war was the first time in history that a person in the military was safer at a time of war then normally at a time of peace. We lost fewer active military men and woman in a time of war than we would have normally at any time of peace. Statistically speaking. See we lose our beloved military men and women normally at a time of peace due to car accidents, and whatnot. Normal occurrences that happen every day. Well when we were over in the Gulf we were not allowed to drink...drive...go out... Nothing that we would have normally done. And therefore we were safer. Ain't that funny.
As for what you want to do. Well a security force officer is not something I am familiar with. But it sounds like you are. Going in as an officer is by far better than enlisted. You can go to the Air force academy in Colorado Springs and then go on to whatever it is you choose.
As for the active duty situation... Active duty is just what it sounds like. You are actively in the military. That is your job. There are active and reservist. If you are a reservist then you go through your training, and once certified you go back out into the civilian world. If we need you we will call you up and you will become active. It's that simple.
Well I hope that helps. Keep up the ambition. You sound like a hellofa kid. You will go far.
Good luck.

you are 13 years old. you will change your mind at LEAST a dozen times between now and when you have to make a decision regarding your future.

the Air Force Academy is not the only path to Comissioning. You could attend any college with a AFROTC unit and get your commission that way. the first two years in ROTC there is no legal committment, but as soon as you accept money, either via a scholarship or through direct payments, you incur a committment. Most commitments are for four years after Comissioning. Yes, this has to be on Active Duty.

OR you could go to any college of your choosing, then apply to OTS once you have graduated. However, the AF is downsizing right now, and the chances of you getting accepted, let alone what you want, are slim at this point in time. There is no guarentee that the AF will any need of a Secuirty forces Officer when you are old enough to worry about it.

Contact the Air Force Academy and find out what they look for in applicants if you want to go there. You might be able to join the Air Force ROTC at you local University, if you wanted to go that route. Before graduation you will be asked for your "dream sheet" where they ask you what you want to do in your career. At this point you will have been exposed to many different jobs and SP might not be your dream any longer (but it might).

Yes you can have a family on active duty.

Active duty is just that, your job for whatever time you are in. As opposed to reserve duty where you have a civilian job during the month and one weekend a month you go and practice being military.

As to whether or not you will get deployed it is so far in the future that no one can say. And for being killed, that could happen tomorrow, on the street so why worry about it.

After graduation from the Air Force Acadamy, you are required to serve as a commissioned officer for at least eight years. Five years must be active duty and the remaining three can be in the inactive reserve.

Active duty means that you will go where the Air Force tells you to go and you will do what they tell you to do. You may go to an active battle area. If you do, you may die. Get over it. That is what you will be signing up for.

You can have a family while on active duty. You just may not be able to see them much.

Ten years in the Air Force

Four years active duty (Honorably Discharged)

Six years Air National Guard. (Honorably Discharged)

I won't be the first to answer, but it will be serious...

First, there are several excellent jobs the Air Force has to offer; you may not want to limit yourself to Security Police Officer.

Further, you do not HAFE TO go to the US Air Force Academy to be an Officer. Many colleges have ROTC training programs.

General Colin Powell was an ROTC graduate.

Thus, you would not HAVE TO go active duty; however, it is expected you serve in the military.

ACTIVE DUTY is when your full-time job is the Military. You work on a military base 8-12 hours a day--just like any other job.

US RESERVES is a federal program--the US Government pays your check. This is typically one weekend a month and two weeks a year of summer training. Yet, you run the risk of being called up to ACTIVE DUTY.

US Guard is similar to the RESERVES except the state government pays your check. Again, typically you serve one weekend a month and two weeks of summer training. You still can be called up to ACTIVE DUTY.

If you are called to go, then you may have to go to war. This is where you may want to consider which job you do in the military. Security Police may get shot at whereas someone who loads cargo planes won't likely get shot at.

You can have a family if you are in the military.

The steps to be an OFFCIER are to get a college education (4-year degree.) Get involved to the ROTC program. Earn a commission in the USAF. Go to Tech School to learn your job--Security Police. Serve you country honorably.

well, u r very eager to join the military ,but the military is not a game that u want to play and get out son.
be brave and join the army and be a helicopter pilot like me (im in the special force) and soon u will forget this silly idea about dying just when u feel the heat of the battle .
active duty means to obey orders and go any where they send u ,and yes u can have a family like me
good luck

Well,if you really want to be an Air Force officer of any kind I think
it's a given you're going on active duty after you graduate. They're
not going to spend all that money training you so you can goof off.
That means you might have to go to war. If you're not ready
to do that, don't join the military.
