Let me just make a list here.

1. You should probably check and see if it is illegal in your state, some places won't even think of marrying you if you are closer than 4th cousins. If it is illlegal, well there you go, you shouldn't break the law. And you should'nt bother dating someone you wouldn't marry.

2. How does your family feel about it? I mean you have the rest of your life to find the "one". Do you not think this will cause more drama than is needed with your family?

3. Honestly, lets look further down the road. Do you really want the same family you have grown up with your entire life to be future in-laws? Don't get me wrong, I love my family, but sometimes you need a different setting with different people, and traditions, besides, it's fun to learn about other traditions and cultures. Okay, moving a little further down, do you want your child(ren) to do a family tree project in school and when they get up to present it to the teacher and class everyone sees that it just doesn't branch out enough for him/her to have a normal family. How embarassing would that be for your child, for all of his friends and eventually the entire school to know that his Great Aunts and Uncles are also his Grandparents and Momma and Daddy are distant cousins?

4. Hypathetically, you get pregnant, and you have this beautiful baby, a miracle as a result of your undying love. Only the child has genetic issues, major ones, and several birth defects. Not to mention cerebral palsy, or mental retardation, along with many physical abnormalities that could occur. If your love is so important that you would risk damaging an innocent child then go for it, but you will regret how selfish you were when the child starts having problems in life, socially, physically, and emotionally.

5. Cousin lovin' is just wrong.

It's ok to go out with your 2nd cousin. I have 2nd cousins that married in my family and they all look and act normal.

Children of non-related couples have a 2-3% risk of birth defects, as opposed to first cousins having a 4-6% risk. Genetic counseling is available for those couples that may be at a special risk for birth defects (e.g. You have a defect that runs in your family) In plain terms first cousins have at a 94 percent + chance of having healthy children. The National Society of Genetic Counselors estimated the increased risk for first cousins is between 1.7 to 2.8 percent, or about the same a any woman over 40 years of age.

My best friend married his second cousin . They had two beautiful intelligent children together. They have all their fingers and toes. There is a lot of variation in genetics that removed . Its not like you grew up as close cousins living together. You found out after the fact.Don't worry about it being immoral. There are a lot of people with real moral dilemmas.

a second cousin isnt really that genetically close to you, id guess that a blood test and careful monitering any pregnancies would be in prudent, but its legal in most states and countries.

thats wrong and only something that a really ugly and stupid person would do. i think you should think about what your asking thats your cousin and your most likely to bring up a new disease or deformed children if you were to do anything with your cousin.

I think its wrong. I know several of my second cousins and wouldn't go out with any of them (of course, I'm married but...still). That is too close of a blood relative.

It's morally wrong because it's a family member.
