They are generally very friendly, romantic, and passionate. They are famous for amazing chefs, producing talented musicians, artists, not to mention football/soccer players. The wines of Tuscany have gained international recognition. Italians, particularly Sardinians, are known for longevity and healthy lifestyles.

The land also has stunning architecture, from the Roman Coliseum, to the breathtaking Roman Catholic churches.

Aside from all of that, most of the Italians I've seen are extraordinarily hot. =D

Perhaps the only downside is that I've heard that people have been pickpocketed many times while travelling in Italy.

Well, I am half-Italian (mum). As with any country it depends on the individual..so i can talk a bit about those I know..
My family are from naples but live in Pisa.

They are extremely set in their ways, proud and not very adventurous. My uncle takes the comment 'Japanese food is great' to mean that Italian food isn't!! And he isn`t the only one!! He is also obsessed with money and never fails to ask my dad how much my brothers, sister and I earn..and how much my dad`s pension is, how much the house is worth now etc...solely with the aim of getting one-up on my dad!

They are also extremely generous and have put us up numerous times for several weeks in a row and done all the cooking and so on for us. I spent months there just like a third daughter. I also felt very welcome and accepted by my cousin`s friends when I visited this summer-so much so that I am planning to leave japan and face that awful Italian bureaucracy and job market to go and live there again-some day soon.

Anyway-why did you ask the question??

I found the italians to be a mixed bunch. They are friendly but will rarely make the 1st move in making conversation (unless you are a hot redhead! The italian men are crazy about redheads). Driving is insane and takes some getting used to specially if youare driving yourself. Always keep clear in your head that zebra crossings are not a place where the pedestrian gets priority, they are a place you can cross the road without being arrested! if the lights change, you are fair game! seriously! The best dish has to be tortellini! Don't ever go to Naples unless you own a big gun. Turin is beautiful and Rome is truly fascinating. Girls if you want to see the vatican cover your arms and legs (me and my girl were kicked out because she had short sleeves!). Watch out for people dressed as gladiators outside of the coluseum, they are hawkers and will fleece you good and they are not affiliated with the building in anyway. 5:30pm is icecream time in Turin, the italians will queue for miles for icecream in Turin!

What is not to like about the people as a whole. Every nationality, every race has its "bad apples" but I have always found the Italians to be warm, generous and loving people. We have Italians in our family and my best friend was Italian. I will always miss him. I have never been privileged to go to Italy and only have knowledge of what I see on the travel videos. It looks beautiful and I hope someday to see for myself. I love the food, the bread, the pastries...well that's it now I'm hungry.

I love Italy and visit frequently. The people are very interesting and good fun to talk to. I speak Italian and I find that you can get a long way when you make an attempt to use the language. The Italians appreciate it very much. They are also very fond of their culture and to admire it is important to them.

I've been to Italy more than once and I really love the country.
Italians have a typical Mediterranean temperament which I love (being Greek is the main reason I guess!).
One place I have really loved in Italy is La Maddalena, wish I'm back there the soonest possible!

Italy is a great place, great skiing, great beaches, great food, great cocktails and Sambuca, fantastic scenery and history.Recommend Sestrie, Madonna di Campligo,Torino, San Remo, Roma, San Marino, Venezia and Firenze. Milano is a bit like Manchester.

Driving in Italy is great fun too, no speed cameras, so you can wizz along the A4 at 120 mph, and still get overtaken.

Italians are generally pretty friendly, but some of them are lazy bastards. They even have a range of clothing 'Bastard proudly made by those lazy Italians.

I have never been to Italy. I like what few Italian people I know in the US. Hey, tie their hands and they can't talk.
I also like Italian women. Mama Mia !!
