Boric acid never really works. Depending on how bad the problem is, you can go to any do it yourself pest control stores and purchase something for them there. They usually have stronger stuff than regular stores. If it is a bad problem, you will need to have somebody come in and do the initial kill, then you will need to follow up with regular cleaning and pest control.

I always used boric acid when I lived in the south. It didn't really kill the roaches as much as it repelled them. It does take some time to get started. They are supposed to carry it back to the nest and it kills the others, but it does take quite a while to work.

I don't know that it has ever worked for anyone. I know one of my renters has bug issues, but they brought them with them when they moved here from Germany.(There were droppings and eggs in all of their belongings) I hired an exterminator to spray inside and outside their home twice a month for a full year...it worked for the most part, but my renters never cleaned out everything they owned. The items they had in storage were full of bug matter also...and every time they set up Holiday decor (out of storage) they would complain again about roaches. My advice is clean everything and hire an exterminator. I ended up having to evict the renters...they simply weren't clean people. None of my renters since then have had any problems with roaches.

Mix it with Milnot and make little balls out of it and place it where children or pets can not get to it. The sweetness will attract the roaches therefore eliminating the problem.

Put bait out - the kind that comes in a syringe. Also, put mesh strainers (available at Ace & Bed, Bath & Beyond) in the sinks to keep them from coming out the drains - this has really helped me.
