We have an excellent health service for the creamy layer of the society. Some what adequate for the middle class. some of the government aided hospitals are doing better job than the private nursing homes. But, rural area has got the least medical assistance. Even if there is, it is not properly utilised.

Considering the population of India, I think, the health services are not adequate. In some village areas it is absent. Also when there are natural calamities and even in epidemic times.

Adequate to excellent medical care is available in the major population centers, but is usually very limited or unavailable in rural areas.
The link below takes you to the Consular Information Sheet from the U.S. Department of State. Scroll down about 2/3's of the way and begin looking for the bold heading "Medical Facilties And Health Information."
This is a very helpful web site for travelers. Happy Trails!

Yes the facilities available are adequate if used sincerely, dedicately and the feeling to serve mankind.
The problem in India is lack of working culture, lack of accountability & responsibility. If we able to correct these than the facilities is more than enough.

It is hopeless. Most of the hi-tech services are available in large cities only. Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, Madras, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Pune and Chandigad - if you leave these 10 cities, then health care facility is peanuts elsewhere. We need much more hospitals and doctors to serve our huge population.
