Last night my dog started acting wierd, he is usually very hyper and he was moving slow and just laying around. Then he started to vomit (I know this is gross) but his vomit had a very strong metallic odor to it. He did not eat anything. I have never had to deal with this before and am very scared. Because it is sunday the vet here is closed. Is there anything I can do for him at home. He is only 6 months old.

Most likely he ate or drank something that made him sick. If he is still sick please try to find an emergency vet clinic. I worry that a metallic odor may mean he got into something poisonous.

If you live anywhere where there is an emergency vet clinic, I'd take him in today. If not, he needs to go in first thing Monday morning and the only thing I can suggest to do is let him rest - don't try to force him to eat - he knows what his body needs. I don't know what the odor could be from - could he have eaten anything metallic? Keep a really close eye on him, make sure he drinks some water and hopefully he'll be ok.

Have you tried ringing the vet, because there should be emergency cover. If they are really unavailable ring another vet and explain why you did so; I'm afraid it sounds like your dog needs urgent help.
See if you can find anything he may have eaten; anything that might smell metallic. If you realise what it is tell the vet. Take a sample with you if you can.
Was there anything like green or blue slug pellets in his vomit? Try to take a sample of his vomit in a sandwich bag, it might help them analyse the problem.
Good luck.

It sounds like he ate something bad. Puppies do that. Please call a vet--even though they are closed, they have answering services and vets are on call. You can get an answer today. If your dog is vomiting then dehydration becomes a big concern also. Is your pup drinking water?

Can you say

EMERGENCY VET!!

Sounds a lot like poisoning. Puppies eat everything. Is it vaccinated? Has he ever seen a vet? Let's see...

Lethargy

Vomiting

Puppy not playing

Not eating

C'mon!! Get him to a vet before kidney and liver failure occurs and you come home with no dog because it died.

Look for a vet anywhere ASAP, it sounds like a condition of Bloat, which is a stomach disorder in which the stomach actually twists. Let him lie down and relax, and LOOK FOR A VET coz they have certain instruments with which they can get the stomach back to its place. Bloat occurs in big dogs with barrel shaped chests. Keep hope that he's just eaten something. Oh, and his stomach will tend to look really BIG and Bloated.

Find an emergency vet in your area ASAP. Metallic smell can mean many things, one being blood. Another being poison. They can also become severely dehydrated very quickly. Please call.
