I have Nero 6.0, and a DVD writer which supports up to 12X.

I tried to burn my files to DVDR as backup, but the progress stopped at 1% and did not response afterwards.

What should I pay attention to before burning a data DVD?

It sounds like the drive is waiting for burn verification from the read-head. There are several kinds of DVDR disks. Have you burned before with this kind of disk? If this is a new stack of disks, maybe you got the wrong type of disk. One of my burners can burn to either - or + R disks, but the other can only burn to -R disks.

;-D Soon there will be two more types of DVD disks and who knows about next year!

Restart your computer and try again with different blank DVD R.
Make sure you choose DVD menue not CD menue.
