I want a very playful, friendly, cute, kind-hearted cat. Can anyone reccomend a cat to match this description?

No cat is better than the other. That's like saying Mexicans are better people than Asians, or vise versa. The personality of the cat depends on the cat itself and how you bring it up. If you abuse it, it's not going to be friendly and playful. The best thing you can probably do is go and adopt a kitten from a shelter. Make sure you pick a healthy one, though. If you adopt, you save that cat from being euthanized. Mixed breeds are also usually hardier and live longer, and are more immune to diseases. They're not affected as much by things like the fact that white cats with blue eyes are often deaf.

Cats are very independent creatures. It is almost a hit and miss in getting one as described in your question. However after having said that, all kittens appear to be playful, friendly and cute. The Persian seems to be a bit more affectionate, but from a person who has had cats as part of her household for going on 35 years, I would say once again, it is a hit and miss situation. Good Luck.

I think the best kitten/cat to get would be one from your local animal shelter. There are so many kittens in the world that you shouldn't have a problem finding one. Most (not all) kittens are playful. If you go to the local shelter they will be able to tell you which kittens/cats they have that are playful. Best of all, it will come home to you spayed/neutered and up to date on shots. If you can't find something at the local animal shelter try looking in the paper for free kittens, there are always some in there.

get one from the humane society. they are usually held and cuddled a lot.
the type of cat don't matter. they are all different character wise.
it's the people they grow up around that have the biggest influence on their behavior.
i got a 10 week old kitten from the shelter near me and a stray 5 week old kitten from a Friend. the one from the shelter is so calm and playful and cuddly and it doesn't scare easily because its already used to havoc from the shelter. i can walk right up to her and all she does is look at me and purr or maybe swat at my legs playfully. the other kitten runs off the minute i start walking toward him. unless i have food then he's right there. lol.

it may cost you money at the time of adoption but its still cheaper. my shelter kitten cost 70 dollars and she already had all her shots and is spayed and leukemia tested. to bring her to the vet and have all that done would cost way more. probably around 300 dollars!! yikes!!
whatever choice you make, be responsible. spay or neuter. leash walk your new cat. it would suck to pay so much for a pet just to have it get struck by a car or attacked by another animal. good luck.

Go to a local animal shelter and pick out an outgoing affectionate, ADULT cat. Kittens are usually all playful, and you can't tell what personality they will have as adults. You will really be saving an animal because the adult cats are usually the ones that are harder to adopt out since everyone loves kittens. Also males tend to be more affectionate lap cats than females.

Go to a shelter and "meet" their kittens. When you buy a pet from the shelter, they are already spayed or neutered and are current on their vaccinations, so even though you're paying for them you don't have to take them to a vet and pay vet fees, so it balances out (when you get a free kitten, they often still need all of these things done and the vet can sometimes be more expensive than the shelter)

The best part is, when you rescue an animal from a shelter you could be saving it from being put to sleep!

Go to the local Humane Society and pick one out. You will be saving a cat/kitten from possible death, and that cat will be up to date on all shots, free of fleas and any other parasites, and neutered. If you are gone all day, you should adopt 2 cats. They will keep each other company and won't be so "clingy" on you when you get home the way a single cat can get.

All cats are great. But don't buy a cat. Adopt one from a local animal shelter. Get 2(then they'll have someone to play with when you're not around). You'll be saving a life(or 2).

I suggest going to a shelter and playing with a bunch of different kitties until you find one that is exactly what you want. I will say that if you want a playful cat stay away from Siamese kitties - they tend to be pretty tempermental.

The best kind of cat for a loving pet is the Maine Coon cat. They are especially intelligent and affectionate, and also quite expensive. If you can afford one, it's money well spent.
