I don't' think the Pope has ever been more correct, but I don't think he should have apologized, whey apologize for being right?

He was correct because violence is at the very core and heart of Islam, every true Muslim's duty is to make the kafirs (non Muslims)convert to Islam, and if they don't the Koran instructs the Kafirs to be killed, it is a religion which has brought only problems, look around and see just how many people have lost their lives to Islamic Terrorism and countless many have been destroyed, you and I will never ever be able to understand the pain of people who lost their innocent family members to an enemy they didn't even know about,it's horrifying, this enemy is everywhere, and can strike us anytime anywhere, gone is the protection of democracy, we are living in fear again have give up our freedom again, is the kind of life anyone wants?

Well, lets see. He basically said islam is a violent religion. So what do the do in response? They burn churches, threaten to kill the pope, and kill a 60-year old nun, her bodyguard and a hospital worker in Somalia. Sorry to say it, but it sounds like he was pretty much right to me. I'm not catholic, and usually don't agree with much popes have to say, but he was right on the money this time. I'm sorry for all the "non-violent" muslims out there, but please, they're the only ones who can stop the violent ones, and they don't do a darn thing to stop them, just whine about the rest of the world calling their religion violent. Sure, christianity has done a lot of evil itself, no denying that, but we learned. We quit listening strictly to the leaders, started reading the bible for ourselves and learned. The muslims apparently don't get it, they react to being called violent by being more violent. It's ironic, but extremely sad that innocent people are being killed because the pope said something the muslims don't like. The pope says a lot of things I don't like, but I'm not gonna go out and kill innocent people over it.

He was correct in stating the history, however, it was not a good idea.

I think by now people know not to say things to anger other people, as I said before the power-houses of this world are throwing insults at each other like squabbling children.

I think that the pope should mention all the atrocities done by his religion and Christianity in the past as well if he is going to mention the atrocities of past muslims.

I have never seen any good thing from islam if they are not shedding blood they are destroying properties.Pope did did make the comment rather he quoted an emperior. If the emperior statement is wrong , Islam faitfuls should stop being bloody and turn a new leave.

it was a bit rude of him to say that about the Muslims but hey the truth hurts, and they are barbaric people. He was incorrect to say it, he was correct to apologizeed for offending anyone. But he should not apologiz for what he said, it is the truth.

No. Although I don't think that he was insulting Islam, he was not very skillful in presenting his view that the primacy of place should be given to rational thought. He is also arguing against multiculturalism and in my opinion this is regressive thinking, but I am not a Catholic. It's possible that this kind of thinking appeals to Catholics.
