A cousin of mine and I have never been close, and he didn't come to my wedding or send me a wedding gift. Now he is getting married and I can't go to his wedding but I was thinking of maybe sending him a gift, just because we've never been close - to do a loving thing. My mom mentioned that I shouldn't send them a gift because he didn't come to my wedding (when his sister did) and didn't send me a wedding gift (she also implied it was in part because of the not-close thing). Should I send him a wedding gift?

Maybe you could send a card letting him know that you wish him and his wife well. If you want you can send some $$$ but if you are not close there is no reason to.

Send a card. If you feel pressed to send a gift of some sort, send a gift card.

If you are not attending the wedding, then it is not required to send a gift.
If you feel compelled to send one, then do so. The newlyweds will greatly appreciate it, I'm sure. Don't let the fact that he didn't attend your wedding or send a gift stop you.

It seems to me that in your mind weddings are all about the gifts. You should definitely send a gift so they will not think you are cheap.

Yes you should. You had it right to begin with... it does not matter whether or not he sent you one thats being selfish. Send him something that you make. For example, get a picture frame (99 cent store) and decorate it with something white. Like sea-shells, buttons, whatever you use, makes it special. Which will make you special. It isn't about who gave who... its what comes from the heart. You have a bigger heart for giving.

if you feel that you would like to send a small gift there is absolutely no reason why you should not do so.
You seem like a sweet and kind person - he is lucky to have you as his cousin!
