Any diet you ever read about ALWAYS says exercise. So eat sensibly, eat healthy and do whatever kind of exercise you enjoy - dancing, bycicling, walking, running - you get the picture. If you do the kind of exercise you enjoy, you WILL do it. Otherwise, it's just a chore that you will keep putting off to "start tomorrow".

Metabolic Profiling followed by Glycaemic Indexing, and Probiotics if necessary. It's not as complicated as it sounds, but any guy who has 7 phd's in this field is well worth taking notice of.
It is the most effective way to lose weight and keep it off that I have ever seen. Low-calorie and low-carb diets do not work long term, that's why we hear so many people saying how great a diet is but can't see the sense that they are still overweight after years of being on that diet.
I can get details to you if you are interested.
Please be very aware that diet pills can be dangerous, I wouldn't even consider it my friend.
Take Care!

It's a well documented fact that Diets Don't Work. You may lose some weight at the beginning, but most people wind up putting it back on and then some. And no, I would not fool with diet pills if I were you. Just eat sensibly, watch your portions, and don't worry so much about a few extra pounds.

The only sure method to loss weight is to decrease intake and increase your exercise. I too, gained weight when I stopped smoking. This relates to the slowing of the metabolic rate that has been artificially increased with nicotine.
If you are not currently exercising, start with walking and gradually increase you physical activity. It is suggested that you maintain a diet around 1,600 calories per day.

The AMA has always recommened against Fad Diets. Basically the recommendation they give is more calories out than in, so excercise and watching fat and calories is easy and safe. Also, contrary to fad diets, safely losing weight is about 1/2 pound a week, so ,sorry, quick fixes usually cause the yo yo effect.

I've been on several diets: Atkins, Slim-fast, negative-calorie, cabbage soup, metabolife, and others I can't remember.
All of them work, atkins and metabolife are easiest, but all of them make you gain it back and it's much much harder to lose this new weight.
You gained weight b/c smoking = faster metabolism and right now your metabolism has slowed down. Eventually it'll pick up again if you're active, & also, do cardio 4-5 times a week.

its not so much a diet as a change in lifestyle. The south beach diet provides a good framework. Some carb restriction is helpful, as is exercise! The exercise (aerobic and weightlifting) increase your metabolism and speed weight loss.
