Hi all,
My band has a chance to travel to Sweden for tour this coming spring. The trip has quite a price tag, though. Are there any ideas as to how we could fundraise. I know of grocery bagging, and happenings books, but we need lots more.

Thanks
Karl

Since it is a band it seems appropriate that the best fundraiser would be a performance.
I wouldn't think that it would cost anything to play at a local park. You will probably have to get a permit, but that can't be to big.

You will have to spend a little bit, but be reasonable and shop around:
1) You will need flyers to publicize the event, but instead of making them full-page make them 1/4 of the page, and cut them yourself. Depending on how many flyers you want to get out it might be cheaper to go to a "mom and pop" printer company that has a bulk discount instead of printing at Kinko's, paying 9cents a page. (Sometimes, at the mom and pop places if you pay them to print they will cut, which is easier, but maybe not cheaper.)
2)If you have a CD or demo tape (which I imagine you would) then make copies of it cheap by getting the blank Cd's and CD labels from Wal-mart. Burn your Cd's and download a label template from Microsoft (if you are using windows), design a cool label and put it on there. Instant CD you can sell.
3)If you don't have shirts and souvenirs made then you design something cool for the band (probably want it to match the CD) and the take it to www.cafepress.com where you can open up a online store with no cost for just the basics. It is easy and I have done it along with other people I know. (If you decide to make shirts and whatever do so before the flyers that way you can advertise on the flyer.)
4)You will need a poster board or something to make a sign saying something to the effect of if you want to ever hear us again please show your support by making a donation.

I am not sure how well this will work out because there are to many variables like where you live, how much effort and time you have, and what kind of music you play, but it could be worth a try. Besides if it doesn't work out for money then it would have at least worked out for practice.

If you think this won't work then you can always go to selling candy bars, candles, or cookie dough. (I personally think that a performance would be awesome, but like I said it depends.)

Anyway, this is a great opportunity for you and your band. I sincerely hope you get to go. It would be a great experience for you. I wish you the best of luck.

Try playing music for money, you don't need anything extra for that! Look up fundraising sites also

Get your band into gear and perform, perform...advertise the facts on why you need to raise money...settle on ticket price or door pass..if you are that good, you should raise plenty...Good Luck..

My offering is -- how about getting a sponsor?

Maybe you promise to wear their tee-shirts on stage.

Sorry, pal, it's the best I got.
