I checked the litter box but don't see that anything has come out, oh and by the way how do they get worms, I take really good care of my cats...is it something I fed them? Are there different kinds of worms that animals get...these are white ones...I don't want anything to happen to my cats, I will take them to the vet on monday but I'm wondering what this is, I've never seen worms in an animal before.

Many cats get worms from fleas (they ingest them when they clean themselves) so you should make sure your cat is flea free as well, otherwiese he'll continue to get worms.

Worms appear for different reasons. The kittens get them from their mothers if they have them. A fly can lay eggs on the food the cat eats and worms will grow in the intestines. The cat can eat a small animal (mouse, bird) with worms and get them that way too.

The medicine the vets use disolve the worms so you shouldn't really see anything. My vet told me the pills they use today are much easier on the cat than in years past or compared to the remedies in the store off the shelf.

Many animals get worms, even the most loved and pampered ones get them at least once in their lives. I suggest you take precautions for yourself and always wash your hands after touching your cats, don't let them on your bed, countertops/tables or anywhere in the kitchen area. Animals carry worms, other parasites, germs, etc., that can be passed along to humans. Also, do not kiss you cat.

Worms usually come from the cats eating mice, birds or or other rodents. After you give him the pills you will not notice anything different in him or in the litter box. My cat a outdoor hunter gets them and I have to de worm him occasionally. If you let them go he will get sick. the worm segments you may see will not hurt you but are also not very nice. You could keep your cat indoors but if he is used to going outside he will not be very happy. Indoor cats have to be conditioned from kittens to stay inside.

We really need to know what kind they are. If you've seen them, though, they sound like tapeworms. They'll pass through the stool or through the rectum (I know, same thing) and you'll see what appears to be dried rice in the hair around it. Is the medicine from the vet? If so, you'll have to give a second dosage in about 10 to 14 days. They'll eventually pass completely through the rectum, dead. Make sure and clean the litter box immediately after EVERY movement

I don't believe anything visible actually happens; I suspect the worms die and get digested. All animals can get worms unless they are completely isolated from each other or the outdoors -- it doesn't mean you aren't caring for them properly. Outdoor animals in particular are quite susceptible, since they chew on or eat almost anything, and worms or their eggs/larvae can live in soil.

Nearly all pets get worms and are routinely wormed as babies.
Sometimes you can see the worms in the feces. If you have other pets you will have to worm them also.
