I can imagine hell is a very confusing place to be. Believe in yourself and love yourself and God will love you. Most people that hate actually hate themselves, don't ever do that.

First of all, I think anyone who tries to address the question of religion to an atheist is wasting their time. Second, Moses was not was not violet. Third, I think the only cruel thing Noah did was to save the human race. Who are you to criticize these people, especially being an atheist? I do agree with you about how anyone could find inspiration and perpetuate any believe that promotes and used violence. Maybe the next time God creates a flood, he will not tell anyone to build an ark. I hope you can tread water for forty days and nights :-)

The #1 Award for Oxymoronic statements IS (drumroll):
"thank GOD i am an ATHEIST" WOW!!!
To answer your question, I'm not Muslim, so I don't understand their choice of belief, either.
Instead, I am Christian, and I will say this: The cruelty you find in the Old Testament is due to the same cruelty you find in the New Testament, as well as the cruelty you find in our society today. What reason is that? Because MAN is a sinful and cruel species, and that has not/will not change until the 2nd coming of Christ!
Nevertheless, within a cruel nation, you will find those who continue to STRIVE for righteousness and God's perfection. I am one of those.
Peace to you.

that was thousands of years ago, around the dawn of our civilization.
and in many situations, violence is the only solution. humans are mislead to be exploited, and that is why these prophets warn them.
no human is perfect, we sin all the time, and can be forgiven. only if one has evil intentions will he encounter gods wrath. i do not believe in anything. i only recognize things i see and know. i know god is there. but i didnt write the bible so i cant vouch for it. only the times when god speaks. when god speaks in the old testament, at first, dont take it as law, only suggestions. he sounds very strict, because if we do not take suggestions, we will fall like civilizations before us. he made what he said as gods word and the law to protect the human race from self destruction and explotation by other species on this planet we are not aware of.
this is science, not religion.

You'd have to actually read the bible to understand the activities and events. Violence has been part of life since the Fall; no avoiding it in this world. As a Christian I don't find myself inspired by violence, but rather love. The love God had for Moses and the obedience shown God by Moses. The true inspiration comes from the love God had for us - so much that he was willing to sacrifice His son for our eternal salvation. The love Christ has for us that He was willing to give Himself. May you find Peace. ~Nisa

There are two kind of people in the business of terrorism. Some are leaders. They are very smart in running their business. They have know how to brain wash second kind of people. They are the one who die not for their faith, but for what their leader believes in.No religion in this world except one is based on violence. You should be glad to be what you believe in.

He says do not kill people unless they kill anybody else, do not kill you babies before birth due to fear of powerty, do not lie , have good relaions with your parents, neighbours, aand relatives..... So I believe that what He bring from God was right and should be practiced and if you think the opposite, that is your life, and this is our life you lead your life according to your ideas we will continue to believe and practice ours. All the best : )

Maybe Jesus was not violent, but his followers surely were.
More people have been killed in the name of Christianity than any other religion.

Depends on what you call preaching. Your questions speaks to Islam. I am a Christian, thus I cannot answer it.
You know just for the record, you are misunderstanding things like "grace" "salvation" etc...
