If you want to make yourself REALLY popular, ask all the females at the reception to dance. Not everyone will say yes, but there are often so many women who would love to dance, whose partners won't, that asking them will help them have a very good time.
Oh...and do not drink to excess. There is nothing worse than a sloppy drunk at a wedding.

in a lot of of the weddings that I easily were to over the previous 2 years, the groomsmen double as ushers, or there are not any ushers in any respect. once you've those that you're feeling might want to be sturdy ushers (and may want to be prepared to do it) then i recommend it. In a fashion, it encourages human beings to take a seat next to human beings, fairly than in clumps that are scattered in all places. if you're deliberating doing it for the sake of doing, do not hardship about it. it would want to nicely be one a lot less difficulty to safeguard in the time of wedding ceremony Week! Congratulations!

You need to learn which side of the room is Bride and Grooms, it's been a long time so i don't remember, but I think right side is Brides side. Better ask someone to be safe.
You're supposed to ask if they are with the Bride or Grooms party and then seat them accordingly.
As I recall, you're also suppose to escourt the women in by the arm.
You should also find out of there is any preferred seating and who is supposed to get it if they are not an early arrival.

Nah ...just get ready a warm smile when ushering the guests to their seats.
have a good rest the night before the wedding day so you will not lethargic on the big day.
Keep mint sweets handy if you have a stale breath.

Make sure you know where the Bride wants people seated. Usually the grooms family sets on one side and the brides on the other. If you do not know the people, simply smile and ask "are you with the bride or the groom?" If they are old, they may want to set at the end of the pew, if they have children they may want to be toward the back. Just ask questions and be friendly, bet you enjoy it!!!

Be friendly and smile a lot. If you are nervous, or don't want to do it, people can sense it, and they won't take a liking to you, which is important, as you are helping at a friends wedding.

Don't ask for tips from the guests.
Seriously ask the bride and groom what they are expecting you to do, then show up for things like the rehearsal and practice.
You'll be fine.
