if it is a lower tooth then you'll most likely need a Root Canal Therapy. If it is an upper tooth, are you sick? because your upper teeth actually touch your sinus sack and when sick it gets inflamed giving you sinus pressure that can cause throbbing pain in more than one tooth. However it could also need a Root Canal Therapy. Sorry. Better to get the RCT rather than to ignore it. GOOD LUCK!

I had this problem. No cavity just terrible pain, just like you describe. My dentist said it was an inflamed nerve and gave me a product called "SootheRx". Miracle cure! It's a tube of toothpaste you use for 2 wks 2 x day( you will start to feel relief within a couple of days), then there are these little 1 use paste packets you brush with for next month. Honestly, I had such great results with the toothpaste - by the end of 2 wks I had zero pain - that I didn't use but maybe 4 of the packets. Never had the problem return. Didn't have to have any invasive procedure. The stuff costs about $45 but it sure beats the cost of a root canal and the pain of drilling. Plus, I have the packets for later - just in case!

Do you have an emergency Dentist close by? if not perhaps you could go to your nearest Emergency Department, they should be able to help you with the pain until you can get to a Dentist. Hope you feel better soon

Make a glass of salt water w/hot water & salt. - stir well to dissolve the salt. It should taste very salty. Gargle & swish it until it is all gone. Do this 3 or 4 times a day - it will soon feel better.

Alternate between tylenol and advil. That way you can up the dose without risking OD on either. Do not exceed daily recommended dose.

It's time to see a dentist. You might have a cavity, cracked tooth, or infection.
