My Golden and I live in Thailand. She has been to the vet, had lung xrays, ekg, blood tests. All is normal except she hypothyroid which we are treating with thyrotabs (soloxine generic). It is hot here of course but she does this even when she is in the air conditioning and it is cool. (I am under the blanket). She was born here. Anyone have this experience and found the answer?

The breathing problem started before the vet and I put her on thyroid medication. She doesn't do it when she is asleep. The other thing she has is a heart arrhythmia. Checked for diabetes, negative.
She drinks enough water and I give her ice to cool off.

I have a lab that does this too. This may sound strange but he does it for attention. He lays against the chair and pants so the chair shakes and you ask him what is wrong and pay attention to him. He also jumps on the bed lays against me and does the same thing. If i am busy and he thinks i'm not paying attention or he is asleep you can barely tell he is breathing. It could be the same with your dog. An excitability thing.

When I read your question I see that you gave the answer.
You had your dog checked by a vet, you know his condition and you have him on appropriate medications. I don't think anyone here is qualified to further elaborate on what your vet already told you.

ok your dog is probly excited maybe if it 2 yrs its body might have grown fast and its lungs are catching up it might have exercise induced asthma yes its possible this means that breathing in dry or wet air while running has occurred a problem in the lungs
if you go to the vet have them check for asthma

She is panting because she is thirsty... it is hot here and she is wearing a fur coat 24/7... I have a dog here too and he pants alot.. but he loves to drink ice water.. I would try this as a first step.. plenty of cold water should do the trick..

all my best from Tak Province

You should take her back to the vet and have her thyroid levels checked again. She is displaying all the symptoms of Hyperthyroid: accellerated heart rate, overheating etc. It could be that her dosage needs to be adjusted down.
