No, its not toxic. But boy oh boy will your dog stink!! I have heard that tomato sauce is a good way to get the skunk smell out of your dog. Give him/her a tomato sauce soaking. If that doesnt work, call your vet and ask what to do.

First, verify her mouth and make certain there are not any chemical burns: redness, swelling blisters. Skunk spray is poisonous and will actually burn dermis, eyes, and sure, mouths. Watch her the following few days, checking the tissue as good as making definite she will be able to devour and drink adequate. As to tomato juice? Well, you on the whole would possibly not scent the smell as powerful but it surely does not truthfully neutralize the chemical compounds (known as thiols) in skunk spray. The exceptional factor to do that's a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. combine a a bottle (approximately a quart ) of hydrogen peroxide with a million/four c. baking soda. Use a syringe, or when you shouldn't have one, some thing like a turkey baster to flush out her mouth. A couple of matters: CAUTION: if she swallows the hydrogen peroxide it is going to make her throw up. It would possibly not make her ill or harm her, however she's going to most likely puke. Second, use the answer as quickly you combine it. It quits operating when you retailer it. Third: what to do with all that left over answer? Use it on her dermis to eliminate a few extra scent. Just DO NOT get it in her eyes - it might blind her.

First, determine her mouth and be certain there aren't any chemical burns: redness, swelling blisters. Skunk spray is poisonous and might literally burn epidermis, eyes, and yes, mouths. Watch her the following couple of days, checking the tissue as good as making sure she can consume and drink adequate. As to tomato juice? Good, you probably is not going to smell the scent as strong but it would not absolutely neutralize the chemical substances (known as thiols) in skunk spray. The first-class factor to do that is a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Combine a a bottle (about a quart ) of hydrogen peroxide with 1/4 c. Baking soda. Use a syringe, or in case you do not need one, anything like a turkey baster to flush out her mouth. A few things: caution: if she swallows the hydrogen peroxide it'll make her throw up. It won't make her in poor health or hurt her, however she's going to without doubt puke. 2d, use the answer as quickly you mix it. It quits working for those who store it. Third: what to do with all that left over answer? Apply it to her epidermis to eliminate some more odor. Simply don't get it in her eyes - it might blind her.

Pretty common, and I've had dogs sprayed in the face several times. Even had a retriever pick up a live skunk instead of the bird he was sent for once and bring it back to me,,,,,,,, just so I could go "yuk,,,,, patui" ;)

It appears to be just a temporary irritation that can cause temporary blindness, but that's it. I'm sure it would taste bad enough, though to wish you were dead. lol. By the way, use peroxide to help get rid of the stench, but not in the face. That can definitely cause blindness and vomitting. Your local pet supply store should have some shampoo for the bathing.

Is your dog going "Yuck Ptoui!" a lot?

My dog used to get sprayed all the time. Never hurt her a bit, but I am not sure about the mouth thing.
