I hear it's something girls really like happening - not just because I carry the bags but in a romantic way, like being taken to dinner or getting flowers etc etc. I can understand all the other things, but why would a girl get excited about being met at the airport? Beyond the practical considerations, I just don't get it???? Did it happen in a film, was it in a book - where does this come from?!

It makes us feel special like you care enough about us and missed us so much you couldnt wait to see us so you met us at the airport..

It's the whole romantic image thing - someone there to instantly recognize you as ssoon as you come into view, to be excitedly waving at you, to swoop you up into a big hug & kiss so that all around you folks are going "aaawwww" because it's just so damned sweet . . . ya know, it's like the whole bon voyage scene they show when ships leave the harbor - confetti & streamers - if you didn't have anyone to throw a streamer to or to shout "bon voyage" to you, then you clearly would be a nobody! It's all romance dude, & the Hollywood image of romance. But really, getting off the plane & seeing a beloved face IS totally sweet - sure beats the heck out of the complete anonymity at the luggage carosel & then the cab drivers (most of whom don't speak enuff English to converse with you about your trip) See what I mean??

It is rather romantic situation and girls are turned on by romantic and exotic settings. Think this through and maybe you'll "get it". She has just left the baggage area and enters a sea of strange faces, to see you waving wildly to get her attention.
She waves back and hustles over to you, then in a public place, you kiss and embrace. The guy gives the girl a rose. Everyone looks on and smiles. Then, off you go together to who knows what and who knows where. That is the stuff of a woman's fantasy life.

It's primarily due to media portraying the happy reunion of a couple at an Airport. Why it can't be as poigniant anywhere else is beyond my understanding. Such is the way of the female mind. They crave romanctic encounters, even if they say otherwise.
