driver is always responsible. if the owner of the vehicle knew it was uninsured when she took it--that is just wrong. anything could have happened. unless the owner of the car is willing to pay for the ticket---there is probably nothing your girlfriend can do since the ticket is in her name. if your girlfriend knew the car was uninsured then i say suck it up and pay the ticket. if she didn't, then i would ask the owner to pay for it, or at least split the burden.

She is responsible for disputing the ticket and should to go to court and advise the judge that she is not the owner of the car and if possible bring the registration with vin number etc and owner's name on it.

If she has her own vehicle/insurance bring proof of this as well. The more info you have, the better off you are.

She likely will not be held responsible as the insurance follows the vehicle and not the driver. The owner of the vehicle is responsible for the insurance on the vehicle and is permitted to lend car out but it should not be driven without insurance or there is no coverage in the event of an accident.

I am a claims adjustor and bored at work.

I would think that the driver is who would be responsible for the ticket...

If she didn't know that the car was uninsured, she should ask the owner to pay the fine. If the owner does not pay the fine, she should think about a court case.

Does your girlfriend have a car? Is it insured? If I were her, I would go to court and show that I am a responsible party who had valid insurance on my vehicle at time of the violation.

Also take the other responses to heart...don't borrow another person's car in the future...

good luck.

In Ma, the in basic terms difficulty that has consequences on insurance is a shifting site visitors violation. Be a sturdy guy, and pay the cost ticket, or the owner of the motorized vehicle, might want to have a difficulty even as he is going to resume his registration or employing license.

She is. The driver is always liable for any violation on the vehicle they are driving. Same as a broken turn signal. No headlights, etc.

mostly the owner should be held responsible for allowing his uninsured car to be driven, but your girl friend must share some of the responsible for driving it.

actually it depends on what state you are in. some states say that the owner and the driver are both responsible.
