It's not a legal issue. The carrier shipping the luggage sets the rate for what they want to charge. Free of charge with a one-passenger coach fare, most commercial airlines place a limit of 70 pounds before it becomes an extra charge item. 70 pounds is about 7/8 of the weight of a full bag of mortar at your local brickyard. Shipping large, heavy items from overseas; there are all kinds of transatlantic and transpacific surface ship lines that do this. You put it in a big box. I hope this helped.

each airline in diffrent. Sometimes if it is too heavy they charge you the Cargo Rate.

Check with your airline.

as far as i know if you are going from states to states or a domestic flights it would be 70 lbs...and if you go international it is only 50 lbs....to make it sure ask your travel agent or the airlines.

when i flew to my sisters last year it was 30 lbs per suitcase - call the air lines to be sure
