My husband, my baby and I are moving into a 3 bedroom, two bath house. I was wondering, what would be a nice color for the kitchen that has white cabinets? The living room that will have maroon (a little brighter than maroon) sofas? What about the hallway that goes from the kitchen to the living room? It's fairly narrow, but I would like colors that separate the rooms. And ideas? Thanks!

i just moved too and im going through my colors also.. its hard to give you colors, some of the colors already given to you dont sound good to me (but you might like them) and some sound good (but you might not like them).. but here is my rule of thumb.. i look at the amount of sunlight that comes in the room .. if there is alot.. i will look at darker colors.. less sun.. lighter colors.. i hate walking into a room that feels like a cave.. kitchen, you have light cabnets.. but are your floors light? dark? how about your counters? i know alot to think about.. my kitchen has lots of light, cabnets, floors and counter are light, so i have samples of dark tans... i would consider a med-dark green.. the living room i would get a color that compliment your sofa.. do you have a covered chair? I would look at yellows or creams..if you have a lot of sun i would go with darker yellow .. as for the hall, i would stay with a lighter color, it will make the hall feel bigger (i also have a narrow.. did we buy the same house???) go to the paint store get some of the sample you think you would like.. cut the color that you like and tape it to the wall.. you can almost immediately see what you might like.. get lots of colors if you are unsure.. once you think you know what color you want, buy a pint and paint a little on the wall.. or get a piece of wood and paint that and put it in the room.. and just look at it for a couple days.. you will know, so there will be no regrets.. or double painting..dont forget.. there is a whole world of glazing.. sponge painting.. patterns with more than one color paints.. whew.. im getting tired thinking of all the painting i have to do.. but its fun too!! good luck

In that narrow hallway, I'd recommend the use of a high gloss paint. It will reflect the light and make the hall seem brighter.

I think I'd go with green shades for the kitchen. Not sure about the hallway. Perhaps a green with a border that matches the living room?

Paint the kitchen a pale yellow. The living room a soft brown or beige color. Do the hallway top yellow and bottom the brown of the living room. Put a wallpaper border or wood trim to seperate the colors.

The kitchen should be a very light mint green. If you have a window in there, when the sunlight hits it it looks beautiful! For your hallway I would suggest maybe a sunny yellow. For your living room, use a robin eggs blue, i love the look of maroon and light blue!

I'd put antique white or maybe cream color in your living room...goes good with maroon...for your kitchen, maybe light blue and tan...a colorful home is a warmer home...
