I recently found out that some of the people I work with think I'm a lesbian... why would they?

This is because you could be seen many times with girls and not been around with boys too often .May be you have spoken something anti-men
or may be you are not responding to men's advances or seem cold to them
If you are not one then plz do not worry as many people spread nasty rumours when you are hard to get...that does not mean you should act passionate with men or flirt with them to prove them wrong.
i haven't met you personally but at times if a girl is pretty good looking yet not responsive to men it could let such thoughts to creep or may be your behavioral traits could be masculine in approach.if you are not one eventually they would know..

Could it be in the way you dresss ?
Perhaps they have mistaken an easy going nature towards a co worker as something that is sexual. For a guy its not a mistake that happens all that frequently but for a girl I suppose it could be seen that holding a hand or a friendly kiss on the cheek was a sign of you being gay Women show emotions more than guys . or it could just be someone that has spread a rumor and its gotten back to you at any rate just set the record straight (no pun intended) tell THe ones near you that you are are hetro

If you have short hair and are interested in sports perhaps, or if you just act in a masculine way, or if you don't have a boyfriend and appear hyper critical towards men, these things may give that impression. Don't rush out and get a boyfriend though just to prove them wrong.

I work with a chick who is very masculine, she has tattoos and is skinny and has short hair and loves sports, I know she isn't a lesbian though because she has a longtime bf and a few children

1) You don't date or ever mention dating the opposite sex
2) You are single and past mid-20s
3) You have a gay/lesbian look and mannerisms
4) You are seen together with another person of the same sex frequently
5) Whenever conversations turn to discussing attractive people of the opposite sex, you keep quiet and never contribute any comments.

Some people are just weird, they have this conception of what a lesbian wears, clothing type, or the walk or the voice, etc etc etc, don't let it bother you, they are in their own little world, pick out the hottest girl in the office, and then go up to some of her friends and say I think so and so is a Lesbian, and when they say why? Say because every time I kiss her on the neck she giggles, and walk away,that will make everyone crazy and you'll have the last laugh! hang in there, you'll be ok!

Maybe you aren't a "girly girl" although those can be lesbians as well. Perhaps you are tight-lipped about your personal life in which case that is a great thing. Let them assume whatever they want you don't have to justify yourself. They are your co-workers not your family. Hold your head up high and ignore those that would enter your bedroom uninvited.

1) I think its in the way the person dresses - all boy material? tom-boyish?
2) But I think its more of 'the way u display urself'- how do u sit? talk? walk?

You know sometimes a girl can do all tht and still be straight..(like me for eg; when im with the guys, I become less girly and more competitive lol) I guess the ppl u work with are still 'new' with u.. they dont see wht u do at home or when ur out of work 24/7...

I have worked with people I thought were gay and were not. And I am gay myself! A lot has to do with your mannerisms and your appearance. If you arent gay--why worry? If you are---who cares? Be yourself no matter what because thats all the really matters.
