Well, it depends on what you're letting him do and how he treats you. I think you'll have a gut feeling that you're being used. And should cut off ties accordingly. It's easy, though you'll feel like you're being mean, since most people who wonder if they're being used are people pleasers. But you're not being mean and can even use the same kind tone of voice and manners you usually have.
Just get him aside one day and tell him you think you've been too easygoing and you're trying to change and be more assertive. Take your cue from there.... Good luck!

Depends on the situation. Usually, you will know...or have an idea. Sometimes it isn't obvious...sometimes they are incredibly blatent about it. If you feel used, such as you get together with this individual and that person takes from you and doesnt recipricate in some form or another; if he isn't being giving in some fashion, then the person is using you.

the fact that u are asking indicates that u have a feeliing he is using u...and even if u cant really place it it has maily to do with some things he has done whch u have observed...

I don't know your situation, but if he only pays attention to you when you give him things or do things for him, that would be a sign.
