Trapanation is one of the least invasive ways but I'd guess all you'd see would be the same thing that is on everyone's mind - the dura. I would favor this over a craniotomy where the dura mater requires repair or augmentation in order to stop leakage of cerebral spinal fluid and prevent infection. Be sure to use a sharp trapan if you decide to have a peek.
