Sure people understand religon wrong but vast numbers of people in religion preach and try to controll people with the wrong intentions. Religion itself seems to be a means of controll and gaining power.

We could have faith in ourselves and our surroundings if we were to ditch religion, wow imagine humans having respect for themselves and there surroundings that would be the best religion of all.

Religion was devised by man as a way of controlling the unwashed masses. It has caused more wars than anything else and takes money from those that can't afford it to line its coffers.
If I were its mother, I would spank it very soundly and send it to its room without supper! Because it is very bad!!

Being a muslim, I believe that religion is not something to sepertae humans into different groups but is a law of a way to live. Islam is one of the most peacefull religions but these angry people wanting a reason for war against the west finds Islam to be the best reason. For example if true muslims followed the quran exactly the way it is they will see that it says even in war no innocent life must be taken but yet they think killing thousands of innocent people to get to the american government is right. Personally I think they are idiots, not muslims.

Religion is a bad thing when there are extremists and they are in all religions. It is the root of all evil, as was said earlier, but at the same time it appears that society was a better place to live in when everyone had faith.

Yes. Religion is doing harm because it is a human run concept that actually has very little to do with God. Religion is a person's relation with other members of a common belief system. You run into problems when the roots of that belief system are violent.

Religion is a bad thing as described by Paul in Colossians 2:20-23.. They are rules based on human commands and teachings. They appear wise with their self-imposed worship, but lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence. Just follow Christ, HE is not a " religion".

Religion isn't a bad thing at all. Sometimes people are drawn to religion for the wrong reasons. This opens the door for ruthless people to use it for a tool to take advantage of others. Religion, using the bible for it's practice and reference is wonderful. God bless. If they say touch the TV screen and they will heal you, beware.

I partly agree with your views.
I do not agree with your all views regarding religion.
One thing is sure any religion teaches moral teachings.
I think there is any such religion, which do not teaches to respect other human beings.
Earlier days Women were treated as commodities.
Where as Islam gave status to Women also.
Christianity also teaches certain moral teachings.
Indian culture teaches tolerance.
There are certain people certain communities who have distorted from the teachings of their religious heads.

It can be good and it can be bad. Just remember that it is never the religion that is doing the wrong, its everyday people. So if you say "yes, religion is bad" then you're really said that people are bad and just try to blame it on religion. Thats my view anyway, its done a lot of good, but it's also caused the deaths of far too many people to count.

I think most organized religions are off the mark today. There is too much in the way of power struggles and testosterone overload to get to the basics...the 10 commandments are all we need to get by in life. The dog-and-pony shows get in the way of the message.

Religion itself is a good thing. Unfortunately, there are extremists involved as well, similar to many other things. There are those who will use anything, including religion, for their own selfish needs and this is the main problem.
