depends on the church. Some have a middle school and high school group separately, so you could start in 5th grade- others have a joint youth group where u can usually start in 7th grade- some may be even different from this- ask officials at your church- if you know who the youth group leader is, talk to them

Depends on how the individual church defines "youth".
That would determine how old you have to be, or how young.
I think many consider "youth" as those in "high school" or of that age group. Some I've known of would consider 13 - 25; others might think of "youth" as 18 - 30.
Probably depends, too, on whether it is a smaller rural church or a larger city church ... a smaller one would tend to include a greater age range; a larger one can have more groups ... like maybe, 13 - 17 and 18-25.

college age
young marrieds
empty-nesters
grand-parents
BUT don't forget the singles (never marrieds), etc.
