I have to agree with my man, Eightbraker. Willie Mosconi is arguably the greatest pocket billiards player ever. Yes, Ralph Greenleaf did win the world championship on 20 separate occasions, only a slight edge over Mosconi who won 19. Still, 526 balls without a miss is a feat so incredible that it has remained unbroken to this day. Willie didn't miss ball 527, he just didn't have any more time to shoot. Who knows how far he would've gone? Willie was a spokesman for Brunswick for many years and he also served as the technical adviser for the movie, "The Hustler" as well as playing a small role in the film. He also had a speaking role in the film, "The Baltimore Bullet". To anyone with the slightest knowledge of pool history, the name Willie Mosconi is legendary. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

If you are talking about the game of billiards it was Willie Hoppe , by far the greatest ever. If you are talking about pocket pool It was Willie Mosconi. I agree that Efrem Reyes is probably the greatest player today but, Mosconi played straight pool , a tougher game than 9 ball , he played on bigger tables (10 ft. ) for most of his career, he won 15 world championships , and he also ran 526 consecutive balls. No one has ever came close to those stats.

Efren "BATA" Reyes. No one's better than him. No one is more exciting and more imaginative than him. He wins the big ones that's why he's the highest earning pool player in the world.
