Crock.............!!!! The Pope's speech was taken out of context. Read the whole thing and be willing to really listen to what the man was saying. Freedom of speech is a fact of democracy. Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, Hindus...........who cares what they are........they are allowed to speak up and say what they will. It takes reasonable people to listen without venting hatred left right and centre. Let's protect the right for all to speak freely and learn to act like adults by not spitting our dummies left right and centre.

The Pope read a passage from 14th-century dialog between the Byzantine emperor, Manuel II Paleologos, and a Persian scholar. A passage on the concept of holy war,
"Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached,"
The pope neither explicitly endorsed nor denounced the emperor's words, but rather used them as a preface to a discussion of faith and reason.
Rather than disproving the views suggested in the passage, Palestinians prove it by attacking churches in the West Bank and Gaza. They burned churches that Christian-Palestinians worship at. Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, whose Southeast Asian country has a large Muslim population, demanded that Benedict retract his remarks and not "take lightly the spread of outrage that has been created." What???
The Pope certainly could have explained things better or read a different passage. Regardless of what he said, the outrage and violent reactions are completely wrong.
Christianity, Islam and Judaism are all related and fight with each other the most. We've been fighting, like siblings, for centuries. When will things get better? How do we start to make things better/civil? We all have to want things to be better first. We need to communicate, realize there will be arguments, but consider arguments better than violence.

What the pope have said did not actually came from his mouth.... he read a Byzantine document passage.
And don't go judging as as though you are a real jury, the Muslims don't deserve that statement of the pope so neither do us Christians deserve such statements from you.
and by the way.. we know our true colors... and we don't need self diagnosing for some Muslims have done much much worse even in the standards of their faith. Jihad means Holy War, and what Terrorist Muslims are waging is never a "holy" war for they are just attacking for no reason at all. You say that they are fighting for they faith? No, there are other "holier" ways of fighting for their faith than killing thousands of people through biological warfare and suicide attacks.
We are angry for the things they have done for they are out of the line of reason. And I think that because of their continuous "fight", they had made themselves blind of what the Qu'ran really meant for them to do or what Muhammad have said during his days.

Everyone needs to think before they speak, that includes the Pope. But he is human like the rest of us and is apt to make mistakes here and there. It's too bad his speech was taken for more than what is really was but if you have been paying attention to the middle east at all over the past few months, he does have a point. Everyone just needs to take it with a grain of salt and move on.

many people use religion as a screen and a mask, a crutch to begin with
thing is we see character more than lipservice and the facade falls down with one push and hate and bigotry is exposed
tell ya what. many do not even understand what bigotry is, think it's a dirty word or a large drinking faucet
By Gott try By, God we will do it
god said so, with god's help, no plausible reason other than claims of a divinity as justification that is unproveable
because circular reasoning is bigotry standard, many won't get it
their 'saved' testimony and proof is in a trumped up circumstancial story of manipulation and coercion as proof of repentance and changing one's own mind to be a mindless brainwashed follower of something they do not know but must trust in advance of the explanation (which comes later) only after much conditioning and establishing new values based on holy texts, and then only certain scriptures of that

I don't "attack" other faiths, I present truths from the Bible to show people of other faiths that they are going the wrong way and if they don't turn to Jesus they will end up in the Lake of Fire on judgment day.
The Muslim religion was founded by a false prophet according to the Bible because of the claim that Jesus was not God's Son and that He didn't die an atoning death on the cross to pay for the sins of those who believe on Him and so the "revelation" that produced it came from the spirit of the anti-Christ that seeks to replace Jesus here on earth.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
And since I don't use an avatar or disallow people contacting me, I wouldn't fall into the category of being a coward because I have not received the Spirit of fear.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
My prayer is that any Muslims who read my posts will consider the contradiction of claiming that Jesus was a prophet of God but either He was lying or their "prophet" was wrong since He said that He came down from Heaven to give his life as a ransom for many.

I agree with the Pope. People should not use violence to spread religion. Even if they are Muslims, who began that way and have always done so.

I think pope make trouble for peaceful Muslims b/w friendly christans. so people think that pope say right references then i like to write 2 references from bible which also show the teaching of bible. but i believe that bible is wrong in this verse. and Jesus was peace full man as my Quran tell us.
Luke 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. This is not enough Jesus also teach that in Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
So we have to build nice and friendly relation b/w each other and we reject all those people who just want to make trouble for people for money for the power.

What the pope said was the truth!
It is a shame anytime one who has spoken the truth tries to take it back!
The truth is the truth and should stand on its own!
