No, never. You should never leave the house without at least flip-flops because many businesses do not allow you to patron without footwear and you never know what you're going to wind up stepping across to get where you need to go.

Scenarios: The place you'd planned to go is not open for some reason. You can't find another place that you can go without footwear. You wind up doing a drive-thru instead.

You're out just for ice cream and he notices that the movie you both wanted to see is out now and there's no line for the next show! You've called home and Mom says that's fine... but you can't go it because you've got no shoes on.

You get ready to jump in his car and you step on a piece of sharp gravel and cut your foot.

You're walking over to the Dairy Queen up the block and there's broken glass on the sidewalk.

As a teen, none of these scenarios would have occurred to me, but as I got older and stuff kept happening, I realized that it IS good to be prepared for things sometimes.

Not being prepared I have locked myself out of the house in my pajamas (just went to take the trash to the curb!) and I have spent the entire night, in my car, on a dead end street, with the heat running, hoping not to run out of gas, because I slid to the end of the street on ice, couldn't see in the dark to go to anyone's house, didn't grab my coat because I was only running a friend home, so I was in sweats and slippers (hardly a smart way to tromp through icy streets.)

Sometimes life throws curveballs at us and we're not prepared. Why leave yourself unprepared on purpose?

Plus... truthfully? The fact that you don't even want to wear SHOES to go out with a guy sort of tells him that he's not worth the effort of throwing on some flip-flops. Is that really the message you want to send someone you like enough to date?

yes, if you go to a club, order an ice cream. after an hour or so the bartender (boy) (garcson) asks if you want to have something to drink, then order coke. barefoot is ok, if you go in a park, on a beach, if you go with so many people like in a discothec, donot do it,.. just see what others do and then repeat it.

Are they also going barefoot? Two barefooters are better than one! Less chance of being asked to leave vs. a solo barefooter. However, clean soles are better than dirty and blackened soles--dirty soles definitely call more attention to being barefoot. Do have flip flops along just in case, either in the car when driving or in a carrying bag when walking.

Proper etiquette would require you to at least wear some sandals. If it was the ice cream man, then fine. But if you're going to the store,at least don't go looking like an orphan.lol
