I wanted to be an artist; I won a college scholarship at age 12 but had to surrender it due to failing vision. I wanted to be a doctor (my grades were excellent; I was almost skipped three times but my father wouldn't allow it because he thought i was too immature to be with older kids); then, I simply left home and on my own since age 15. I put myself through high school and started college at 30 and stayed in 2 honor rolls... what have I done with my life? Not much. I've helped others succeed while I've done very little with my life. I've won many athletic events but that was not what made me happy at all. Now, some 45 years or so later, I'm getting back into art and putting my photography gear down for a while. Oh, yes, I was an educator and I taught at the college level while an undergraduate. I've worked in law offices and medical offices, too. I've even owned my own engraving company.

I still want to be an artist, just like when I was a kid. I'm now getting back into it and I enjoy it immensely.

I wanted to be a doctor. I was a science nerd, participated in science fair competitions, read my fathers' medical journals and all that. But my father decided he did not want his daughter to be a doctor--"Not a profession for women." Still to this day do not understand why he though law was a profession for women? My second choice was a diplomat. Although the way US foreign policy is going now a days I am glad I didn't!!! I became a lawyer, and even had my own practice but 10 months ago I closed the shop to be home with my baby. Raising my son is the most important job I've ever had and plan to stay home until he starts pre-k.

An actress *sigh*. Never had the looks or talent to pull that one off. I'm a freshamn in college now so I still consider myself a kid...when I grow up I want to be a writer. I'll probably end up teaching 7th grade English or something but ah, to be a writer.

First I wanted to be a farmer, then when I was old enough to figure out that most farm animals are slaughtered for food (which I wouldn't be able to deal with), I wanted to be an animal breeder or trainer. In my early teens, I started developing allergies to most animals, so that idea went kaput. Right now, I am happily married and working at a less-than-glamorous job (a cashier), but I do like my life as it is. I would like to eventually make a living as a writer.
