I belong to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints
Contrary to the statement that the church is racist I will state that it is the least racist of any church. There are people that trawl through history in a attempt to find a statement out of harmony with our present politically correct culture. Those people are known as mudslingers.

Why pick on the Mormon Church. If you go back in history every church is or has been racist to some degree. Look at the Catholic Church the early explorers would go to the countries and if the people would not join the Catholic Church they would kill them. They came to America and almost destroyed the early Native Americans.
Look at the Southern Baptists. Many of them had slaves and were slave traders. Isn't it down in the south where the KKK started?
These are just two examples. You could go back in history of every church and find more examples of racism. Look at Muslims,Hindus and other non Christian religions they also have a history of racism.
Compared to the other religions I would say that the Mormon religion has a pretty good track record when it comes to racism.
People from all races could always join the church. The only thing they did was that one race could not hold the Priesthood until later. Now every male can hold the Priesthood.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Sainsts is not racist. They have no history related to the KKK. Blacks have always been able to join the Mormon church and many have been members since the very beging of the LDS Church. In fact, look at many other Christian religions. They also have a history that by todays standards were racist. The difference is those churches always talk about the LDS church but never their own hisories (even hear a Baptist acknowledge that they had a vote that said Blacks were to be slaves and had no souls? ) They did, but who cares. During those times racism was a way fo life for most white people. Yes, there were some exceptions, but during the 1800's and first 1/2 of th 1900's it was a fact. That does not make it right, but thankfully we have learned and grown as a nation (at least the majority). That fact is the LDS church is not racist. You may not believe in what they believe or agree with what they do. But calling names will not change them. The docterine that they follow is what they believe came from God. Many blacks are joining the LDS church worldwide. No matter what you say they beleive in the docterine of the LDS church and as such follow it. They don't care what you say because most of those in the US have researched these issues for themselves before joining (I know because my husband is black and LDS). As the old saying goes "when you point a finger 3 more and pointing back at you".

If I remember correctly, in the early beginnings of the church, the LDS members were forced to leave their homes at a certain point because they were opposed to slavery...
I must also point out, the "blacks" not being able to hold the priesthood was a direct commandment from God, not a social, political, or any other type of move on the church's part. When the curse from the Lord was lifted, it was revealed to the prophet at that time that they would be allowed to hold the priesthood. It may have come at a time of social unrest or whatever, but don't you think the Lord knew that? His timing has a purpose.

Show some proof to back up your claim.

The LDS church embraces people of all races. True... back in the day African Americans could not hold the priesthood, but it was during a time of political and social unrest. Now they can. You should be happy about what we have now and stop dwelling on the past.

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Well at least they've been uncovered a million times for those willing to look. They've messed up so many times and changed their so called bible that anyone with much of a mind can see that they are the blind leading the blind. May God rip the innocent from their midst. The poor and ignorant who have been lured by their false sense of spouting love.

Right on!

And remember that the Catholic (and many Protestant) churches & the Moslems were heavily involved in slavery.

Watch it... careful... they're buying hospitals all over and also buying into pharmaceutical companies and large franchises... (Walmart, I think). At one time, Blacks and dark skinned people were not allowed to join... but once they saw that Blacks and dark skinned people were also working and making money... they let them in... in order to fleece them, too. Careful, you never know when you might find yourself in a hospital owned by them!
