It is difficult for an advanced mind to comprehend its own end. We are so much more mentally complex than other creatures that it is easy to think we get some special treatment after our mortal coils have failed us.
Seeing a person lose it all before death is especially troubling. To see someone fade away to Alzheimer's is torturous.
Since you can't speak to people who have died and cannot observe heaven, Nirvana, etc., there is no way to answer your question with pure reason. Except to say that the simple observation that life ceases and there is no more to it is true.

But I think any reasonable person should explore religion all the same; curiosity is a good thing. Religious texts are the most influential ones in history, no doubt about it. Worth consideration.

There is no data of the experience of death; all you can consider about it are the considerations of living people. The stories that religion uses were written by artists (who were once the world's scientists) to describe the nature of consciousness to people. Religion misuses and misinterprets these myths for power and profit.

to be honest i am not sure, what i can say is that, sometimes i sit down and think what makes me different from other animals?
I think a human being is an intelligent animal given powers to control all other living creatures. How did you come into existance you go back to science and religion points of view.

well... no one has really come back from the dead... those who did said they went through a dark tunnel until they reach the end of the light and saw their dead friends or relatives (whom they miss ) waiting for them. Of course he/she came back to life because the dead relatives shoo them back.. telling them it's not "time" for them yet.. and some cases... they got the wrong person.

Whether you believe it or not. Yes... we are just like other living creatures on earth. we come here through birth... we take off in death. and we might be back again.

how will we know what's in the after death when we don't remember.

No it is not all over, your sould will live forever somewhere. To much evidence, even from non-believers whose bodies were dead, yet they say they never lost consiousness and were outside their bodies watching the whole thing while they were being brought back to life.
