Pope MERELY "quoted" from what's already been said by some 14th century Christian Emperor, at the time, when Arab forces were reaching as far north as Spain & France. He was NOT suggesting any of his own belief.
If I "quote" something from a biography of Adolf Hitler, such as, "exterminate the Jews" does NOT mean that I said/believe in doing so. People REPEAT many quotes from History, does that mean, they should NOT bother "educating" others from our past, merely for the fear of "offending" certain individuals ???
Perhaps a supposedly "peaceful" religion should make a use of some "peaceful" protest or mode of communication to "request" an apology, as opposed to letting millions around the world witnessing their agressiveness.
When exactly were the SAME Muslims when:
>> Iran's leader mentioned "wiping Israel off the map of the world"
>> Many mullas' call for the death of Jews, Hindu & Christians
>> Calls for the death of infidels & boming London were made in the recent Cartoon Protest, in the streets of London
Such argument are merely brushed under the carpet by dismissing as the "act of MINORITY".
Why don't the "majority" do something about these "minority", I wonder ???
Why didn't the same Muslim protest "against" these radical Islamist element to PROVE that they really MEAN what they brag i.e. "peaceful" religion ???
Seems to me they're BRITISH when it comes to claiming
>> FREE housing, education & health
>> offer being treated as BRITISH when getting caught-up in war-torn lands
but all of a sudden becomes Muslim when they need:
>> special bank account that pays "no interest" in accordance to their religious requirement
>> requires special made "halal" food at schools
>> requires prayer rooms at school/college/university, airports & hospitals
How could they possibly be British AND Muslim, at the same time is just beyond me !!!
You may be BOTH at a time but surely you can ONLY be one thing MORE than other i.e. either British OR Muslim. You CANNOT be serving in British Army, if you've OBJECTION fighting in Muslim countries.
Never been a phrase, "biting the hand that feeds you deemed soooooooooooooooooo appropriate".

Nope it is not the last straw nor it will change my views. I have always believed since the beginning of this bloody war that the foul Islamist lunatics should be exterminated and the fouler pits from whence they came turned into irradiated glass.
Would I care If Pope Benedict XVI got killed by them, yes. The man just quoted something, and in any event it is just his own opinion sheezz...why do Muslims get so immature when someone says something bad about their faith (like they think their sensibilities are more important than anyone else's)...
But should that assasination happen I will not become mindless and ask for all Muslims' heads...that's just what those foul terrorist fiends want, for all of us to start hacking at each other's throats. For sanity's sake can't we think rationally anymore about these things?
To j4mes_bond25...you're right. These Muslims love to scream at us when we insult their religion (nevermind if it was intentional or not), but they seem to adore their own ugly mullahs issue death threats against people they do'nt like like the Jews and Israel. I'm starting to think these guys really are the hypocritical morons that the Islam-bashers (who up to this point I disagreed with) say they are.

No it is not 'the final straw'! Any threat to a life, no matter who they are, is an abomination. Whether is is the Pope or Joe Bloggs who gets killed makes no difference!
The war on terror will never succeed becasue there will always be nutters and fanatics who will carry on the ideas and ideals of using terror as a means of trying to get their message across. That doesn't mean we have to give up the war on terror but I don't think bombing the hell out of innocent civilians is going to achieve anything in the long run. Violence begets violence!!!

those persons are the biggest enemies of the Asian community contained in the united kingdom. the guy contained in the line received't look to tell apart between Indians, Pakistanis or Arabs. they are going to all be recognized as Moslems, and militant Moslems at that. this can effect in racial pressure between all white and all brown human beings, except the traditional respectable Moslems contained in the united kingdom artwork with the authorities to decrease out this maximum cancers that has consequences on their community. in the experience that they don't, we'd want to have race riots and if that occurs there'll be no winners except the extremists. this is the duty of the leaders of the minority communities to provide all information and recommendations achieveable to the protection amenities to guard not in basic terms the voters of the united kingdom, yet extra fairly their personal human beings, who otherwise might want to finally be the problem of a faulty backlash.

No, I doubt if this is the final straw. Until people have the courage to think for themselves and challenge their indoctrinations, into whatever belief system, unfotunate consequences like this will continue to run and run.
I would do nothing but encourage people to think for themselves and question the teachings of thier elders, particulalry if those teaching claim to be the word of God.
If people were truly secure in their own beliefs, of whatever persuasion, they are unliley to be perturbed by slurs and insults whether deliberate or accidental. The fact that some groups are so over-sensitive shows to me that deep down they have doubts.
It has nothing to do with a God, it is all about the power of religious leaders to be able to order the powerless faithful to go to war on thier behalf in oder to improve thier own already powerful positions (onward Christian soldiers).

firstly I don't think the Pope's life is threatened, they burn a few puppets and turn over a few cars but that is it
secondly it wouldn't change my opinion if they did kill him, I already hold a negative view of the Islamic world
thirdly the war on terror is a crock of shite and can never be won by sending troops into some country

These People who want to kill the Pope are fanatics. First, it was not the Popes original text, secondly it was not what the Pope meant, People are overreacting.

the pope has apologised and explained that the way his origional speech was disected for use as a propoganda tool was not what was meant and has requested that his whole speech is looked at before jumping to conclusions.
If he is killed it only goes to highlight that the differences between the muslim world and the rest of the world are never going to improve until everyone wants to co-exist peacefully and we all care more about the future of humanity rather than twisted outdated ancient teachings.

I think it a terrifying thought.
I am against all religions but not God.
To me they are service providers or fearsome controllers.
But-----
I respect their dedication and not a single one of them should be harmed including the Pope.
I'll not go into history to prove who is right or wrong but if a mad dog runs loose we would kill it. It may be man's best friend but everyone would understand why.
Would I fight against such attempt?
You could bet your ***** life I would.
Queen, Country, Freedom of Faith in all things.
I've only a few breaths left but I would use them all to save my country.
Hell man, I am Cockney and British down to my underpants. We give everyone a home so I say respect it.
