I don't know about you but I've been noticing too much politics in my church. There is always gossip about what person did this and what person did that. There are the popular well-known people, and there are the not so popular people. There are also the ones that try too hard just to be known and usually these people are the ones who are nice to the popular families while they are arrogant to other families they don't know. My point is that there really isn't equality among parishoners. I don't know if this is the same for other churches but for those of you that deal with the same, don't you agree?

Like you, I am very annoyed with gossip and the "politics" you describe, yet the reality is that it happens everywhere and in some way in every group you find. You might think about how you choose to respond to the situation. Mom always told me that if I could not say something nice, then it was better to say nothing at all. So, when I encounter gossip I do my best to insert something positive in the conversation. Sometimes this means guiding the topic to another subject. Sometimes I will say something positive about the individual(s) who are being "dissed."

As for the "popularity of families" factor, this perception, too exists everywhere. Many Catholic parishes are large and there is often a lack of opportunity to really "connect" people of different economic and social cultures together in meaningful ways. Sometimes I've also perceived things about others that aren't always the truth. For example, the person I thought was "stuck up" was really a shy person who is a wonderful person once we established a relationship through a "parish small group." We are challenged to see Christ in each person and we only really learn about people from interacting with them on a one-to-one level. Certainly there is plenty of diversity in every parish--and there are always going to be differences between individuals, yet I have found that getting involved in an activities that have meaning for me and my family has broken down many barriers and pre-conceived ideas.

Jesus came to minister to everyone and took special notice of those deemed the "outsiders" and marginalized in His society. Maybe God is using your observations as a way of calling you to some sort of hospitality ministry in your parish--one that will build communications and connections among people in your parish? Perhaps you might share your concerns and ideas with your parish priest or other parish minister.

I hope this helps you in some way. God bless you on your Faith Journey!

What verses interior the Bible incorporate those grants so i will look them up?...hi Paul Cyp, catholic deacon, what do you assert based on "Mary's grants" as regurgitated by ability of eo785? The Roman Catholic Church has been in politics via fact the Roman Empire existed, merely yet another arm to deliver the human beings decrease than administration. the place there is money and skill, so too is there politics. merely the way mankind, even the substitute guy-made papacy, works.

It's always been that way.

The government always wants to to talk about separation of church and state. But there is none.
